Alright, so you’ve decided to enter the world of flexible office. That’s great! But the search can be intimidating. Now that coworking has become the new normal, there are countless businesses popping up in the city and suburbs alike that claim to be the best place to work. How do you decide which space is right for you?

Location

First things first, it’s important to find a coworking space whose location makes sense. Do you want to work close to your home in the suburbs? Or you would prefer a space right downtown in the city? These are questions you should ask yourself before you even start your search.

Membership Options

Many flexible office spaces offer countless different memberships. If you know you only need to use a coworking space three times a week, then there is a membership that will allow you do to that. However, you can also purchase a membership plan that will allow you to work at different locations throughout your area. Or, if you need a space to yourself, there are options for private office. Flexibility can also be a huge factor when it comes to deciding which space is right for your business, so looking into contract details and flexibility to change your membership as needed is important if you’re not sure exactly what you’ll need yet.

Space

It is a good idea to tour a space before committing to any memberships; touring multiple spaces can give you a good idea of what you like and don’t like in a work space. The physical environment of a space can lead to greater productivity, or cause distractions — choose your space wisely.

Community

One of the things we love about Workspace, and flexible office spaces more generally, is the community they create. Each space will have a different community, but finding the one that’s right for you is important. Ask about current members, demographics, and community events in the space — these questions can help you decide if it’s a place you’d feel at home in.

Amenities

Is free coffee a necessity? What about printer use and conference room rental? Amenities are different from space to space, so make sure whichever space you choose offers all the amenities you need to make your work day flow smoothly.

Price

Our last factor is the least exciting, but maybe the most important: price. You want to make sure you choose a flexible office space that is within your budget. If you are an entrepreneur just start a new business, especially, it is important to make sure you keep costs to a minimum. Like we mentioned, most flexible office spaces offer different memberships, so starting out on the low end and working your way up as your business grows is a great option.

Whichever space you decide to join, it’s important to remember that you’ll get out of it what you put into it. We just wrote an article about how to be a good flexible office member — check it out!
